Volusia County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a man in Deltona Thursday morning after a stabbing at a home at 2717 Ancho Court. An 18-year old woman told deputies that she woke up around 6:30 Thursday morning to discover her ex-boyfriend in a fight with her step-father. Volusia County Sheriff’s spokesperson Brandon Haught says the woman was knocked unconscious when she tried to intervene in the fight. However, when she regained consciousness a few minutes afterwards, she said she found her step-father had been stabbed in the head and abdomen. Haught says the woman then fled the home and was pursued by the boyfriend, until she started knocking on neighbor’s doors. The Sheriff’s Office says the boyfriend drove away at that point.

Step-Father expected to recover

Sheriff’s deputies found the step-father at a neighbor’s home where he had collapsed. He was flown to Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach by the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office helicopter and is expected to survive. Sheriff’s deputies stopped the boyfriend in his car at Howland Boulevard and Catalina Boulevard at around 7:48 Thursday morning and took him into custody. The Sheriff’s Office says additional details are expected later today.

Note: This story was corrected to show the victim was the step-father, not the father.
