These days it seems like a new player gets hurt everyday for the Sun.
Playing with only eight healthy bodies Connecticut couldn't keep up with the Lynx Thursday night at Mohegan Sun arena.
The one constant for the Sun in this rough season is reigning league MVP Tina Charles, who posted another double-double in Thursday's loss tallying 22 points and 12 rebounds.
However, MVP or not, this roster is frail.
Just a few games into the season Rene Montgomery and Tan White were injured, both missing about a month.
Upon their return, more key players went down. Starter Allison Hightower is now out for the season with a knee injury and fan-favorite rookie from UConn Kelly Feris' foot injury will keep her sidelined for the year as well.
Kara Lawson also missed the Minnesota game with a bone bruise in her knee.
The season is not completely over though. With two games remaining against Washington and on versus New York (the two teams directly above them in the playoff chase) the Sun could still make a run, however unlikely with so few healthy bodies.
Now, in last place, the Sun face a Liberty team on Sunday which is as close to a must win as they can have. Connecticut is four games behind Washington for the final playoff spot and three behind New York for fifth.
It's fair to say, with the season rapidly slipping away, they must win Sunday at home against the Liberty.
