Arditti Series: Decoding the Myths of Managed Futures
The presentation is based on Mark Shore’s ever-popular paper “Decoding the Myths of Managed Futures”. This paper examines several very popular myths and misconceptions held by both retail and institutional investors regarding managed futures.
These myths have persisted for several years and tend to be legacy myths. As investors are becoming more aware of the potential use of managed futures for asset allocation and portfolio diversification, knowing if the myths are true or false, is critical for an investor’s or advisor’s understanding and appreciation of managed futures, asset allocation and portfolio risk management.
Speaker: Mark Shore, a well-known expert on alternative investments with more than 25 years of experience in the capital markets including former COO of VK Capital, a $250 million CTA at Morgan Stanley and former Head of Risk at Octane Research, a $1.1 billion alternative investment firm. In 2008, Mark founded Shore Capital Management that consults, produces research and educational workshops on alternative investments.
Mark is also an Adjunct Professor at DePaul University’s Kellstadt Graduate School of Business, where he teaches the only known accredited managed futures course in the country. He is also a Board Member of the Arditti Center for Risk Management at DePaul University.
Mark is a frequent speaker at alternative investment events and his research is published by global publications and organizations. Mark recently began hosting the acclaimed internet talk show about alternative investments “Skewing Your Diversification”
