Take time in the pre-holiday chaos to slow down, breathe and practice yoga. We offer up our yoga practices this week to the Winter Solstice. As the light outside returns, it’s time to let our inner light shine brightly.
Monday, December 16: Looking for a later class? Try Steph Winsor’s free all-levels Vinyasa class at Kindness Yoga on Broadway, every Monday night at 9.
Tuesday, December 17: Take a breath break at tonight’s Soulful Breathwork session with Ally Baker at Kindness Yoga Hilltop. Be sure to wear comfortable clothing, and don’t forget to bring a blanket and pillow for the experience.
Wednesday, December 18: Ready to raise your vibration and manifest your good? Join Jaha at the Denver Yoga Co-Op for her noon Manifestation + Sound class.
Chant with Tom Fuhrmann and Friends tonight at the House Kirtan in Littleton.
Thursday, December 19: Join Harmony Yoga owner Michelle Voeller for her Seasonal “Clean Out” Forgiveness Series. Move through Baba Hari Dass’ Forgiveness Asana Series to move through negative emotions. Bring your journal.
Friday, December 20: Angie Arnold and Giulia Pecone lead the yoga, accompanied by live music from DJ Lukos, for Awaken, tonight’s Winter Solstice celebration at Root Yoga Center. Or check out the sound healing experience at Karma Yoga Center. Dev Darshan guides you through a meditation on character to the sound of the gong.
Saturday, December 21: Enjoy an afternoon of renewal with Yoga Teacher Cherryl Leone and Tea Specialist Judy Williams. Their Yama Yoga Village workshop includes a contemplative yoga practice, a tea ceremony and an extended yoga nidra. Or spend the afternoon on a Winter Solstice Mini-Yoga Retreat with Jennifer McCarron and Heather Kokx. This Littleton Yoga Center event includes Vinyasa and Yin Yoga, journaling, guided meditation, ritual and Kirtan.
Mark the Winter Solstice with 108 Sun Salutations. Jen Hicks offers this experience at Kindness Yoga on Broadway this afternoon. Or join Tiffany Shocklee and Christine Miller at Vital Yoga in Highlands. The Yoga Mala 108 practice at Vital Yoga is a moving meditation accompanied by live drums and flute. This beginner friendly practice does not require you to complete all 108 salutations, but to be in the space of the “collective.” Bring a dish to share and stay for the potluck celebration after the workshop.
Stick around at Vital Yoga Highlands tonight for Solstice Story Circle, presented by Vital co-owner Micah Springer. Event proceeds benefit African women through Seeds to Sew International. Come prepared with a 2-3 minute story, whether true or fictional.
The Iyengar Yoga Center of Denver offers a Kirtan and Oneness Blessing this evening to celebrate the Winter Solstice. Or check out Yoga in the Dark with Jaclyne Salzillo at Asana Studio in Golden. This Vinyasa class will be lit only by black lights, with glow sticks provided.
Sunday, December 22: Celebrate the Solstice with a community Puja to honor Shiva, led by Vedic Priest and Yoga Teacher Santosh. Or escape the city to enjoy an afternoon Hot Stone Restorative Journey at Studio Anjali at The Westin in Avon. If you miss this one, it will be offered several times in 2014.
