There’s plenty of yoga, chanting and live music, indoors and out, even in this quiet, pre-holiday week. Take your yoga practice outside with the first Yoga Rocks the Park event of the season and enjoy the other workshops and special classes listed in this week’s Denver yoga calendar.
Monday, May 19: With the warmer weather finally here this week, why not try the free yoga class this evening at Civic Center Park with Im’Unique United? Arrive early, by 5:30, to register and get your mat space.
Tuesday, May 20: Join Im’Unique United this evening for another yoga free class, this one at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science. Arrive by 6:00 p.m. to get your mat space for this popular class.
Move into your expansive life by letting go of old beliefs and patterns with Soulful Breathwork. Ally Baker offers regularly scheduled sessions on Tuesday nights, including tonight, at Kindness Yoga Hilltop.
Wednesday, May 21: Check out Evening Vinyasa Yoga every Wednesday at the Denver Botanic Gardens with Blake Burger. Don’t forget to bring your mat, as well as a towel and water, for this all-levels class.
Thursday, May 22: Sound Healer and Yoga Teacher Jason Coviello presents Sound Healing Yoga at Harmony Yoga. Join Jason for four Thursday evening slow flow yoga classes, with savasana accompanied by the Hang drum and Tibetan singing bowls.
Karma Yoga Center offers two special classes every Thursday night. Start with Live Music Bhakti Flow at 5:45 p.m. with owner Katrina Gustafson. Stick around for Chant n’Chill with Lisa Theis at 7:30 p.m. Lisa guides you through gentle movement and repetition of a mantra into a meditative state.
Saturday, May 24: If you’re dealing with sacroiliac joint pain, check out Nancy’s workshop at Littleton Yoga Center this afternoon.
Sunday, May 25: Yoga Rocks the Park kicks off their Denver 2014 Summer Series at Sunken Gardens Park this morning. Justin Kaliszewski and the Outlaw Yoga Gang lead the 75-minute flow class this week, with live music from Justin’s dad, Ken K. There’s a kids yoga camp, too, as well as the Wellness Vendor Village.
Check out these great afternoon workshops. Practice yoga and paint May flowers at Art + Yoga at with Una Viggiani at Root Yoga Center. Una provides the painting supplies, so be sure to register in advance. Learn the Secrets of Longevity, including breathwork and Vedic Chanting, at Makaan Burt’s workshop at Asana Studio in Golden. April Boys offers Partner Yoga at The Yoga Mat. Bring a partner or come alone for an afternoon of partner stretching, acrobatic yoga and Thai Yoga Massage. Or, if you’re living with a disability, Sam Mattei provides Accessible Yoga every Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at The River.
