Denver yoga calendar, week of March 24, 2014

Spring is the time for beginnings. Why not begin or deepen your yoga or meditation practice, or even a start a cleanse this week?

Monday, March 24: Desi Springer and John Friend offer their Srivdaiva 5-day intensive, beginning this afternoon at Vital Yoga in the Highlands. Learn the basic poses and the theory of the practice, along with therapeutics and individualized adjustments.

Tuesday, March 25: Enjoy a $5 drop-in today 6 a.m. Power Flow class with Alya Howe at Samadhi Center for Yoga & Meditation. There are other $5 classes this week, in celebration of the studio’s 12th anniversary.

Wednesday, March 26: Vital Yoga offers a Spring Ayurvedic Cleanse, beginning tonight and continuing for two more Wednesdays. Sign up for the cleanse with or without two months of unlimited yoga.

Thursday, March 27: Practice Kundalini Yoga with your kids at Dev Darshan’s child friendly class, every Thursday morning at Kundalini Yoga Denver. Check out the studio’s new location at 29th and Julian in the Highlands neighborhood.

Learn some of the practical, self-care practices from Ayurveda, yoga’s sister science, at tonight’s Thursday Night Lecture at ONE Yoga. Beth Sanchez leads the discussion and the asana class.

Friday, March 28: Root Yoga Center presents a weekend of workshops at The Curtis Hotel with Forrest Yoga Founder Ana Forrest. Sign up for a single session or for the full weekend of this heated, vigorous practice, beginning tonight with “Celebrate Your Practice.” Bring two mats or a mat and a blanket, a strap and a block for any of these weekend workshops.

Don’t miss the last Denver Friday Night Yoga Club for the season! Samadhi Center for Yoga & Meditation hosts the event, with yoga led by Brittany Belisle and Kelly Larson and live music from DJ Solomoon and Gary Fishman. If you can’t wait until next season for another Friday Night Yoga Club, the events continue in Boulder through April.

Saturday, March 29: Ana Forrest offers two workshops today, starting this morning with a heart opening yoga practice, “Building the Warrior Heart.” Her afternoon session focuses on the “Luminous Core.” Whether or not you join Ana for her workshops, get your copy of Fierce Medicine signed at her free book signing event and discussion this evening.

Experience the bliss of guided relaxation with Andrea Briggs in her workshop at Mudra Yoga Studio. Or relax with a Thai Massage & Restorative Yoga Practice with Erin Elston and Nicole Sutton at Asana Studio.

Experience the transcendence of “sensation-based meditation” at tonight’s SPHEREAL event at Asana Studio. Artist William Espy guides your meditation experience with live ambient music. Or check out husband and wife sacred musicians Aykanna at Starhouse, just outside of Boulder.

Sunday, March 30: Today brings two more chances to practice with Ana Forrest. She’ll guide you through a healing practice for your back this morning. Or, if you’re an injury-free intermediate or advanced student, try her Inversions and Arm Balances session this afternoon.

Breathe Yoga Cycle in the Highlands presents Chakras & Essential Oils with Yoga Instructor Brandy Wade this morning. Learn about the seven chakras, or energy centers, in the subtle body and practice yoga poses to bring them into balance. You’ll also sample popular essential oils and learn how to use them on and off of your yoga met.
