Denver yoga calendar, week of March 10, 2014

Whether you’re looking for a yoga party or wanting to deepen your yoga practice, Denver yoga studios offer an amazing array of workshops and events this week.

Tuesday, March 11: Michelle Voeller begins Movement & Meditation this morning at Harmony Yoga. Enjoy gentle asana, breathwork and meditation in this 3-week series.

Wednesday, March 12: Transform your life by transforming your breath. Ally Baker offers her regularly scheduled Soulful Breathwork session at Kindness Yoga Hilltop tonight. Pay for the individual session or buy a 5 session package.

This Denver Yoga Examiner teaches a six-week restorative yoga series at Englewood’s Malley Recreation Center, beginning this evening.

Thursday, March 13: Jason Coviello continues his Sound Healing Yoga Journey at Harmony Yoga. While it’s too late to buy the 3-class series, you can drop-in this and next Thursday evening. Enjoy a slow flow practice then relax in savasana, with Jason playing the Hang drum and Tibetan singing bowls.

Friday, March 14: Are you a continuing yoga student dealing with scoliosis, or a yoga teacher? Check out Elise Miller’s weekend workshop, Yoga for Scoliosis, at the Iyengar Yoga Center of Denver. Elise covers the Anatomy of Scoliosis as well as the most beneficial poses for students with scoliosis. Attend the entire weekend or sign up for a single session.

Whether or not you’re a yoga teacher, if you’re interested in serving “youth in crisis through yoga” check out the Yoga Ganster certification workshop. Samadhi Center for Yoga & Meditation hosts Terri Cooper for this weekend workshop.

Tonight’s Friday Night Yoga Club returns to Kindness Yoga Hilltop. This yoga party includes a yoga class with Buffy Barfoot and Jeremy Wolf accompanied by the live music of DJ SweeTooth. 10% of net profits go to The Creative Acre Foundation, to “support wildland firefighters who are injured or killed in the line of duty,” as well as supporting their families.

Saturday, March 15: The Freyja Project, a yoga and dance studio in the Highlands neighborhood, celebrates their grand opening. They’re offering free yoga and dance classes all weekend as well as spa and boutique discounts (The Freyja Project also offers one week of free, unlimited yoga for new students). Take a class and then stay for tonight’s opening party with DJ SunDragon.

Check out one of these great workshops this afternoon. Unclutter your body and energy field with Lauren Skye’s meditation workshop, Spring Reality Cleaning, at Harmony Yoga. Learn the basics of Chinese Medicine and how to apply it to your yoga practice with licensed acupuncturist and massage therapist Stefanie Pitthan at Asana Studio in Olde Town Arvada. Or be one of the first in the U.S. to learn the fundamentals of Fon Jeung, a unique Thailand health system. International instructor Brian Wood presents these ancient movements with elements of martial arts, Qigong and Thai dance, also at Asana Studio in Olde Town Arvada.

Sunday, March 16: Move from basic strengthening poses, including chair pose, on your way to the arm balance Firefly in Suzanne Hauserman’s Basic to Breakthrough workshop this afternoon at Asana Studio in Golden. Or Moved to be Moved in psychologist Kalindi Carlson’s afternoon workshop at Asana Studio in Olde Town Arvada.

Move into spring with Clara Lazaroff’s Ayurveda: Spring Series at Mudra Yoga Studio. Learn more about the Ayurvedic lifestyle through daily routines, Tantric exercises, and a seasonal cleanse. You’ll receive teas and recipes as well as email check-ins during this series that meets late afternoon, every other Sunday for four Sundays.

Learn to hoop in a 4-week series at Harmony Yoga with Angela Faes. Start with waist hooping and then shoulder to hip hooping and the basics of off the body hoop dance. This early evening class is open to participants of all levels, ages 15 and up.

On this full moon, join the “Healing Ring of the Tantra” meditation, as originally taught by Yogi Bhajan, tonight at Vital Yoga in Golden.
