Tuesday, January 14: New to yoga? Start with Intro to Yoga at Littleton’s Kosha Yoga Center. Jennifer McCarron guides you through the fundamentals of a yoga practice, including breathwork, alignment, body awareness and relaxation, in this 6-week Wednesday morning series.

Join Im’Unique for a free yoga class this evening at the Denver Zoo. Arrive by 5:30 to get your mat space.

Wednesday, January 15: Meditate with Meg Bratt on Wednesday mornings at ONE Yoga in the Denver Tech Center. The 4-week series include group meditation and access to a weekly online meditation to practice at home.

Kindness Yoga’s New Year Challenge begins today. Successful participants who take 30 classes by February 28 are entered to win prizes, including enrollment in Kindness Yoga Teacher Training.

Friday, January 17: Samadhi Center for Yoga & Meditation hosts Matthew Sanford for Realizing the Inner Body, a weekend of workshops. An Iyengar yoga teacher and author of Waking: A Memoir of Trauma and Transcendence, Matthew is paralyzed from the chest down. Beginning with this evening’s class, join Matthew to explore the five sensations: grounding, balance, space, expansion, and rhythm. Stay after the class for Matthew’s donation-based lecture, Faithful to Living.

The River hosts Friday Night Yoga Club this week, with power yoga teachers Christen Bakken and Danielle Barbeau-Cook. Yoga teacher and DJ Roger Pressman provides the soundtrack for this practice. Register early for this one as the event is likely to sell out.

The Iyengar Center of Denver hosts California Iyengar Teacher Carolyn Belko for three progressive sessions of twists. For those on a recovery path, Nikki Myers offers The Yoga of 12-Step Recovery Intensive this weekend at Yama Yoga Village. For those who want to chant, Tom Fuhrmann and Friends present their monthly Maha Kirtan tonight at Lakewood’s Mile Hi Church.

Saturday, January 18: The Matthew Sanford workshops continue at Samadhi Center for Yoga & Meditation with a morning focus on standing poses in his Alignment, Precision, and Sensing Direction session. Practice twists and forward bends in the afternoon session, Moving Inward, Deepening Outward.

Harmony Yoga hosts pranic healer and spiritual teacher Felix Lopez for Discover the Divine Within, an afternoon of mindfulness and meditation. Or vision for the New Year at Ann Martin’s gong and singing bowl concert at Kosha Yoga Center.

Join Jen Cameron and Mark K. Stewart for an AcroYoga weekend intensive at Awaken Gymnastics Inspired Fitness in the Santa Fe Arts District. Asana Studio offers several afternoon workshops today. Explore your past lives with Sandy Kline at the Golden studio. Or learn to work through the strong emotional states that can arise with meditation at the Arvada studio Sangha with longtime meditation practitioner Barry Gillespie. Carmeen Klausner presents a 40-minute singing bowl concert tonight, also at the Arvada studio. Attend the Vinyasa class before the concert for only $20 for both.

Colorado Kirtan favorite Scott Medina offers Harmonium 101 at Mudra Yoga Studio on South Pearl. Learn some basic tips, tricks and a couple of chants in this afternoon workshop. Class size is extremely limited, so sign up early for this one. Scott leads a second workshop, The Art of Guiding Kirtan Chanting, later in the afternoon. Learn how to lead chant from your heart in this workshop. Join Scott, along with Shanti Medina and Damon the Zen Drummer, for a donation-based evening of ecstatic Kirtan chanting whether or not you’ve attended the workshops.

Sunday, January 19: Realizing the Inner Body with Matthew Sanford continues today at Samadhi Center for Yoga & Meditation. Join Matthew this morning for Inner Body, Outer Movement. His afternoon session, All Humanities, “explores universal themes within asanas for all levels of ability and disability.”

Mudra Yoga Studio co-owner Tracey Lanham and special guest Beth Miller weave stories, poetry and chanting into asana practice this afternoon with The Hindu Gods & Goddesses: A Discussion, Chanting and Asana Adventure.
