Denver yoga calendar, week of February 25, 2013

From the basics of yoga and ayurveda to yoga for grief and a month-long yoga and cycling challenge, there’s a yoga event for everyone this week.

Monday, February 25: Ayurvedic practitioner Beth Sanchez presents Applied Ayurveda for Life at Samadhi Center for Yoga. This multimedia presentation covers daily and seasonal routines, cooking, eating, using oils, asana, meditation, cleansing therapies and more. The workshop continues on Wednesday evening. Activate the lunar energy of the full moon with asana, pranayama, meditation and ceremony at Vital Yoga tonight with their Full Moon Yoga workshop.

Tuesday, February 26: New to yoga? Try Harmony Yoga’s Beginner’s Series with Lania Ross. This four week series continues through March 19.

Wednesday, February 27: Schedule a one-hour Ayurveda consultation with Helgrid Randolph at Prana Yoga and Ayurveda Mandala Training Center today or any 4th Wednesday or the month. Another option with your high level wellness in mind is Breathe Yoga’s Nutrition Wise Cleanse, with meetings on the next three Wednesday evenings.

Jen Blakeley begins her nine-week Chakra Series at Yama Yoga Village tonight. This series includes asana (poses), pranayama (breath work), meditation, chanting, lecture, journaling and energy work in the study of the seven energy centers.

Friday, March 1: Early registration rates for the 2013 Boulder Hanuman Festival end today.

Breathe Yoga begins the March 30-Day Challenge. Participants get 30 days of yoga and cycling for $75, access to both Breathe studio locations and a $100 discount on the Nutrition Wise Cleanse.

This week’s Friday Night Yoga Club venue is One Yoga in the Denver Tech Center. One Yoga owner Sherif Sakr and One Yoga teachers Ed Popovitz and Lucinda Welch lead the yoga, with Dakini Ma and Band providing the music. There’s Friday Night Yoga Club in Boulder tonight as well, with Kate Mulheron and Jo Schaalman leading the yoga accompanied by Scott and Shanti Medina.

If you’re dealing with grief, try Rebecah Ziegler’s Om Good Grief workshop tonight at Karma Yoga Center. If you’re up North, Jennifer Graham offers a monthly Qi Gong & Sacred Dance workshop at Asana Studio in Olde Town Arvada. If you’re wanting a dharma talk try “The Spirit of Siberian Shamanism” with Ladamira at Samadhi Center for Yoga. Healer Ladamira, born in Altai north of Mongolia, brings the wisdom of her ancestors to her teachings.

Saturday, March 2: This is the last free Saturday morning yoga class at the Denver Art Museum with Im’Unique’s Illustrating Union Yoga Tour. The next series begins in April at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science.

Nadja Tizer and Deanna Hirsch bring you a Partner Yoga Workshop at Harmony Yoga this afternoon. This all-levels workshop includes partner stretching, Thai massage techniques and acrobatics.

Join Vital Yoga in celebrating owner Desi Springer’s birthday with their Sno Ball tonight, complete with DJ, karaoke, hookah, hoopers, popcorn, cake and Libations.

Sunday, March 3: The Iyengar Yoga Center of Denver offers two workshops today: “Women’s Yoga: Modifications for Menstruation and Menopause” and “Sanskrit for Yoga Asana and the Sutras.” Jenn Stewart presents an introduction to Pranayama as part of her beginner’s series at Asana Studio in Arvada this afternoon. Experience Therapeutic Forrest Yoga with Cheryl Deer at Root Yoga Center, also this afternoon.
