Denver yoga calendar, week of February 18, 2013

On this day after the first annual Denver Chant Fest, it is clear that Denver has become a yoga hub. We are so fortunate to have such high caliber yoga events, workshops and weekly classes offered in our city, including those listed below.

Monday, February 18: Certified Ayurvedic practitioner Clara Lazaroff offers Lasting Change Through Ayurveda at Karma Yoga this evening, the second part of four. Learn more about this sister science to yoga. Karmayogacenter. com

Wednesday, February 20: Want more Bryan Kest after the Denver Chant Fest? Kest is presenting a Power Yoga Master Class tonight at Qi Functional Training Center downtown. The class is slated as one hour of lecture and two hours of physical practice. Qidenver.com

Thursday, February 21: Want more bliss in your life? Try Michelle Colarelli’s four-week Yoga Nidra Series at Harmony Yoga, beginning tonight. Harmony-yoga.com

Friday, February 22: Friday Night Yoga Club presents John Friend at Vital Yoga tonight. The music is provided by Jim Beckwith, who accompanied many of the kirtan wallahs at Denver Chant Fest and rocked the house! Fridaynightyogaclub.com

Dive into restorative yoga with certified Anusara teacher and massage therapist Kristine Whitte’s Restorative Yoga Training at Samadhi Center for Yoga. While this training is part of Samadhi’s 500 hour teacher training elective hours, it is also open to the public. Samadhiyoga.net

Saturday, February 23: Enjoy two workshops at Iyengar Yoga Center of Denver today. Gary Reitze offers the Men’s Yoga Workshop in the morning, and Kevin Durkin offers a pranayama workshop in the afternoon. Both are the second in a three part series, but you can register for a single session. To take the pranayama workshop, you should have experience with viloma and ujayii breathing.

New to pranayama? Try “Transformational Breath, An Introductory Workshop” with massage therapist Natalie Gentry at Dancing the Soul this afternoon.

If you’re a yoga teacher or an experienced practitioner and want to further immerse yourself in the practices of a “Vital Life,” you might want to invest in Vital Yoga’s “Urban Retreat.” This week-long immersion includes asana, pranayama, meditation, ayurveda and more. If you miss it this time around, the immersion will be offered again in March, April and May.

Sunday, February 24: The Iyengar Yoga Center of Denver offers another workshop this morning, this one with Leslie Bradley entitled “Therapeutic Yoga: Modifications for Knee Issues.” To participate, one year of Iyengar Yoga experience is recommended.

Ruth Sharon, author of Be Your Best Self: Yoga for Families presents “Family Funday! “ this afternoon at Karma Yoga Center. This is a monthly offering, held on the fourth Sunday of each month through May. Don’t miss this opportunity to practice yoga with your whole family.
