Denver yoga calendar, week of August 11, 2014

Summer may be winding down, but the yoga is still heating up. Check out the opportunities for Power Yoga in the beautiful Denver sunshine this week, or try a sound healing experience indoors to escape the rays.

Monday, August 11: Enjoy a Kundalini yoga class with Chris Anne Coviello at the beautiful Denver Botanic Gardens, this and every Monday evening. Each class includes a series of transformative postures along with chanting and meditation. This all-levels class is only $8 for garden members.

Tuesday, August 12: Let go of limiting patterns and beliefs and move into your authentic self with Soulful Breathwork. Ally Baker offers Soulful Breathwork sessions every Tuesday night at Kindness Yoga Hilltop.

Wednesday, August 13: Samadhi Center for Yoga & Meditation presents an introductory teleclass, Tantra: The Secrets of Love, tonight with Dawn Cartright, in preparation of her upcoming weekend immersion.

Thursday, August 14: Join Megan Sax and Gary Fishman for a Glowga Gong Bath tonight at Endorphin on Broadway. Start with Megan’s short black light yoga flow, followed by savasana to the sounds of Gary’s singing bowls, gongs and didgeridoo. Or join Roni and Kristin at Littleton Yoga Center for a self-healing inner journey through gentle yoga, QiGong and Yoga Nidra.

Friday, August 15: Chant and dance with longtime Kirtan leader Tom Fuhrmann tonight at the Maha Kirtan at Mile Hi Church. Arrive by 6:30 for a Oneness Blessing, and bring your own back jack and pillows.

Samadhi Center for Yoga & Meditation hosts Ivy Kazt, RYT, MA, NCC for Street Yoga Teacher Training – Trauma-Informed Yoga for Youth this weekend. This 14-hour training is not limited to yoga teachers, but applicants should have at least 20 hours of yoga practice experience.

The Iyengar Yoga Center of Denver presents an All Levels Iyengar Immersion weekend with Advanced Senior Iyengar Teacher Manouso Manos. Participants are asked to register for the entire workshop. One year Iyengar Yoga experience recommended.

Saturday, August 16: CorePower Yoga presents the last Yoga on the Rocks for the year. Join 1,600 other yoga practitioners to greet the sun and practice Power Yoga this morning at Red Rocks Amplitheatre. Tickets are only available online for this all levels event. Don’t forget to bring your mat, water and sunscreen.

Join other Denver yoga practitioners as well as yogis in over 40 other cities around the world in moving through 108 Sun Salutations to support Care for Children, “a program dedicated to providing free education to rural youth in India.” The 3rd annual Rise for a Cause Yogathon takes place this morning at Denver’s Sunken Gardens Park. Join the challenge for $25 or more.

Michelle Weldon offers Neurosculpting® a New Body Image with Yoga this afternoon at Mudra Yoga Studio. Consciously connect with your body though a gentle yoga practice and reprogram your negative thought patterns through the Neurosculpting® guided meditation. Bring your journal for this one.

Marcello Mansour brings Healing Through Sound, Vibration and Movement to Asana Studio this afternoon. Marcello is joined this evening by Makaan Burt, Meg York, Michael Jochum and Richard Ball for a Healing Music and Yoga Dance Event. Join them for yoga warm-ups and dance to the ambient sounds of chant, droning, gongs, woodwinds, didgeridoo and more.

Sunday, August 17: Yoga Rocks the Park returns this morning to Sunken Gardens Park. Power Yoga teachers Christen Bakken and Katy Rowe guide the Vinyasa practice, with live music from Encinitas, California musician Luke Williams. Yoga for the little ones is provided this week by Radiant Beginnings.

Karma Yoga Center presents Mayan Shamanism and Yoga: a Field Trip to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. Mayan Shaman and Bhakti Yoga instructor Michael Schenkelberg guides this morning field trip through the museum’s special exhibit Maya: Hidden Worlds Revealed. Learn more about the stories and symbols and how they connect to your yoga practice.

Spend your afternoon with yoga teacher Indigo Stray Conger and Sound Healer Ann Martin for Restorative Yoga and Sound Meditation at Littleton Yoga Center. Rest in a series of supported poses designed to open the chakras. In each of the poses, Ann plays the singing bowls corresponding to the chakra. Relax to the Earth Gong during savasana at the end of the workshop.
