Denver yoga calendar: week of April 1, 2013, part I

Yoga is in high-gear this week, with so many Denver workshops and events that this calendar is presented in two parts.

Monday, April 1: Start off the week with Art and Yoga this evening at Karma Yoga Center in Wash Park. Una Viggiani will guide you through a vinyasa class and art instruction, and you’ll create an art piece of your own. This month’s theme is “Expressive painting.” Classes are cumulative so you are asked to sign up for the whole month.

Tuesday, April 2: Im’Unique’s Illustrating Union Yoga Tour at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science begins tonight in the Botswana Exhibit. The yoga classes are free, but be sure to get there early (by 6:30 p.m.) to get your mat space.

Wednesday, April 3: Prana Yoga and Ayurveda Mandala offers vedic readings with Renay Oshop the first Wednesday of each month.

Thursday, April 4: Do you like live music with your yoga? Try the “Live Music Bhakti Flow” class at Karma Yoga Center this evening with owner Katrina Gustafson. Stay for Lisa Schlelein’s “Chant n’ Chill” class.

Want to learn about therapeutic yoga? Check out One Yoga’s Thursday Night Lecture, “Intro to Therapeutic Application of Yoga” with Meg Bratt & Kathy Baum.

Friday, April 5: It’s the last Friday Night Yoga Club of the season! Join Warrior Academy Yoga owner Scott Anderson with DJ Dragonfly supplying the grooves.

Breathe Yoga, in the heart of the First Friday Santa Fe Art Walk, offers a Bhakti Yoga class this evening with Kate Spear and Shelley Coughlin. Stay after class for the Arcatus Jewelry Trunk Show, food and door prizes.

Yoga Instructor, Yoga Nidra Facilitator, author and Reiki healer Bill Eager begins his Yoga Nidra Intensive this evening at Prana Yoga and Ayurveda Mandala. The workshop continues tomorrow afternoon.

Noah Maze is in Denver for a weekend of yoga workshops at Kindness Yoga’s new Hilltop location. Teachers and committed students can join him this afternoon for his “Strategies for Success,” a session on sequencing. His other workshops are open to students of all levels, including “Warrior Flow” this evening. Or join him for a backbends class, “Hearts of Courage,” tomorrow morning or the arm balance session, “Leap!,” in the afternoon.

“Love is the Key: Celebrating Our Divine Essence” with the Divine Mother Sai Maa begins this evening at the Sheraton Downtown Denver. The weekend events kick off with a free introductory talk followed by darshan with Sai Maa. Sai Maa and her teachers offer an experiential workshop tomorrow.
