Yoga in Denver is bittersweet this week. While there is the usual array of great Denver yoga events, we dedicate our practices to the safety and healing of all of those affected by the flooding.

Om Time in Boulder is closing its doors after 11 years in business. Gina Caputo’s 6 p.m. Integrated Vinyasa – Intermediate class will be the final class at the studio. We wish Shannon Paige and all of the Om Time teachers the best in their future endeavors.

Friday, September 20: Kiayan Reuter teaches Cultivating Compassion tonight at The River. All proceeds from this vinyasa class go to The Bare Roots Movement, a local chapter of Off the Mat, Into the World, to help protect the Ecuadorian Amazon River rainforest and the indigenous people.
Saturday, September 21: Try a different approach to yoga with Cherryl Leone’s Somatic Yoga workshop this morning at Yama Yoga Village and release neuro-muscular tightness throughout the body. Certified Fitness Trainer and Corrective Exercise specialist Caroline Bloomquist teaches you how go deeper into your yoga practice by using a foam roller along with tennis, lacrosse and golf balls to find trigger points and release tension. Her workshop, Unraveling the “Ties” That Bind You workshop is this afternoon at Karma Yoga Center.
Craig Kurtz teaches Yoga to Relieve Hypertension at the Iyengar Yoga Center of Denver this afternoon. The Iyengar Yoga Center hosts a Equinox sound healing experience this evening, with Diane Mandle in concert.

Sunday, September 22: Happy Autumn Equinox! Celebrate with the last Yoga Rocks the Park of the year this morning at Sunken Gardens Park. Kindness Yoga owner Patrick Harrington guides you through the vinyasa practice, with live music from Scott and Shanti Medina. Kids Yoga Guide provides the yoga for your little ones.

The Yoga Journal Conference in Estes Park is scheduled to begin tonight with the Baptist 3-day Power Flow Immersion opening event. According to the event website, “The YMCA of the Rockies was not affected by the flooding, however roads leading up there are. In light of the highway closures, we are exploring other venue options in Denver and other surrounding areas.” Check the Yoga Journal Conference website for the most current information.
