Denver travelers: Keep your shoes on through airport security

In 2012, ardent Denver travelers may look forward to a bit of time shaved off their check-in at Denver International Airport (DIA) as well as many other airports around the US. The Transportation Security Administration recently announced a program called TSA Pre-Check. The program allows certain frequent fliers and members of the Customs and Border Protection Trusted Traveler Program expedited security screening. Qualified travelers will be moved to a separate expedited line, which may allow them to skip the following security procedures:

  • Removing Shoes
  • Removing Belts and Light Jackets
  • Removing Laptops from cases
  • Removing compliant 3oz. liquids in carry-on luggage

Delta Airlines frequent fliers may use TSA Pre-Check currently in Atlanta, Detroit, Las Vegas and Minneapolis/St.Paul as well as Salt Lake City beginning February 14th.

American Airlines customers will find TSA Pre-Check in Dallas, Miami, Las Vegas and Los Angeles. Check the airline websites for terminal and screening lane locations.

Applications for the CBP’s Trusted Traveler program can be found on their website. The program caters to frequent international travelers; however, the websites states no that minimum number of trips is required to apply.

DIA as well as twenty-seven other airports in the US will begin implementing the program this year. Visit the TSA website for more information.
