Denver television news anchor bitten by dog during live morning segment

A Denver television news anchor was in fair condition at a hospital today after being bitten by a dog during a morning news segment.

Kyle Dyer of 9News-KUSA, the most-watched news station in the Denver market, was interviewing Max, an 85-pound Argentine Mastiff, his owner and a firefighter who rescued Max from an icy pond this week, 9News reported.

The Denver Post, citing an animal control report, said that Dyer was bitten as she "tried to kiss/snuggle with the dog."

Dyer was taken to Denver Health Medical Center, where she reportedly had reconstructive surgery on her lip. Co-workers at the station said she was doing well.

The dog is being held at the Denver Animal Shelter and will be quarantined for 10 days per standard procedure, 9News
said.

"The dog bite accident that happened today at 9NEWS was unfortunate and certainly not expected based on what we knew about the dog and his owner," said Patti Dennis, vice

president of news.

"Our goal was to unite the owner with the rescuer for a nice segment. We are all thinking of Kyle and her recovery.

"We love Kyle and what she and her family do for this community. We also love animals and will continue to do all we can to use 9NEWS to improve animal welfare in Colorado."
