Denver starts to thaw out from the city’s most recent big chill

The latest wintry blast that delivered a quick shot of snow and sub-zero temperatures starts to move out today. While temperatures Monday will remain below normal, the rest of the week will be more seasonal.

For today we are starting out with bone-chilling cold temperatures. Some locations, particularly to the north and northeast may see some patchy freezing fog. As temperatures start to warm after sunrise, skies will clear.

Here in Denver we will be looking for high temperatures in the mid-30s under sunny skies. While a good bit below the average of 44 degrees, that is a marked improvement from the chilly weekend we just had.

It will be cooler on the eastern plains where highs will be in the mid to upper 20s. In the high country temperatures will be in the low 20s. Gusty winds at higher elevations bring the potential for blowing snow and hazardous driving conditions.

Looking ahead to the rest of the week, the Colorado Front Range will continue to warm up. Tuesday will see highs near 50 degrees. Wednesday’s through Saturday’s high temperatures will be at or a bit above normal with dry conditions.

Next chance for snow arrives Sunday, just in time for the Denver Broncos divisional playoff game against the San Diego Chargers.
