Denver's Tattered Cover stands Intellectually Independent

Denver’s premier bookstore opened its doors in 1971 by owner Joyce Meskis. Over the years her book business has grown, leading to three neighborhood locations, a half a million books, and one important business theme.

Independence

The Tattered Cover has taken great pride in remaining independent in its business outlook, and each store promotes this idea through their books. Eclectic or best seller titles can be discovered upon their shelves. Literature, politics, mysteries, non-fiction, newspapers from around the country, and magazines of all subjects are waiting for you.

Banned books and therefore banned ideas have a home here. The stifling silence fostered by political correctness is absent, although books upon that subject can be found here.

New, bargain, and now used titles are for sale also, and each store has something for each reader, young and the young at heart.

The Tattered Cover is an outstanding location for an intellectual metro adventure!

Each year Tattered Cover hosts over 400 authors, illustrators, guest speakers, and book signings. Plus, Tattered Cover promotes many community events in the mile high city such as One Book-One Denver.

Their signature café, the Tattered Cover Coffee Shop enjoys coffee and tea from Vail Mountain Roasters and all coffee is fair trade certified. The café’ sports a cup of steaming soup and hefty hot sandwiches, plus pastries of all kinds.

The Tattered Cover is a special neighborhood bookshop to visit. They sell ideas of all kinds and their ideas are independent and unlike their authors, ideas last forever.
