Spring is around the corner, and it’s the perfect time to adjust your beauty routine. Regardless of whether you are a full-on glammo girl or prefer to keep your look natural, there are a lot of new beauty products to add to your collection. There are also several tried-and-true products that just come in handy. Denver resident and professional makeup artist Stephanie Klasse spills the beans on what you should add to your collection.
Tarte cosmetics lip stain and Amazonian clay blushes: Klasse noted that deep lips were all over spring runways. For those of you who may not want to incorporate the Gwen Stefani look into your routine, she recommends Tarte. “I love their lip surgence crayons. They are a great stain and not drying at all. You can go nude or bright red or pink or anything really. Their Amazonian clay blushes rock my world.” Natural and subtle, with ingredients that help control oil, these blushes are soft, rich and long-wearing. They come in a wide array of colors, so you can find one to complement your natural undertones. Look for them at your local Ulta store.
Stila Smudge-stick waterproof eyeliner: “I love all of Stila eyeliners and use them myself. Their smudge stick waterproof eyeliner is perfect to rim there eye and smudge. You can get a great hard defines line out of it too and man does it stay!” Staying power is always welcome, since sweat, freak snowstorms or a tear-jerker can cause your eyeliner to drip down your face (who could forget Lauren Conrad’s black tears of doom on The Hills?). With a full range of colors that can make any eye pop, this liner is a must-have for any makeup bag. Try them out at Sephora.
Face Atelier foundation: Foundation sets the canvas for the rest of your makeup. It also has the power to correct minor imperfections, such as ruddiness and uneven skin tones. States Klasse, “Want glowing skin? Try Face Atelier, a Canadian based pro line and celeb favorite. It is made with a silicone base and never lets me down… ever. Their blushes in peach glaze or tangerine and their bronzers will finish off the look.” Silicone based makeup helps to cover wrinkles, as it sits on top of them rather than settling in. It is also great for photos, as the finish is very smooth. In fact, Kate Middleton wore Face Atelier makeup on her wedding day.
Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics (OCC) lip color: Whether you are daring enough to try the bold lip or prefer a more neutral look, Klasse suggests trying OCC lip colors. “OCC Cosmetics has my heart for so many reasons. They are vegan, committed to being cruelty free, where so many have compromised in order to sell in China and they are the best long-wearing pigment, dense color you'll find.” Sephora carries a line of lip tars in a wide range of colors, or you can get a crème color concentrate that can be used on lips, eyes and cheeks.
With all of the fun new products out there, it’s a good time to go out and get something new. Makeup doesn’t keep forever, so clean out your makeup drawer and fill it back up with some of these products.
