Saturday, May 3, 2014, from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Denver Health Medical Center, 301 W 6th Ave, Denver, Denver Health Foundation will be hosting a community baby shower to benefit the Newborns in Need Program to help some of Denver’s newest and smallest new citizens. Every year there are approximately 3,000 babies born to families at Denver Health Medical Center. Many of these families are experiencing hardships due to the economy, unemployment and other reasons. The parents of each newborn at Denver Health are sent home with a bag called a “Warm Welcome” bag. Each bag contains some of the essentials to get the newborn started the right way.
The following items are needed for the program and the most essential ones are in bold lettering: disposable diapers (size 1 or 2), wipes, onesies, undershirts, sleepers, blankets, bibs, socks, booties, sweaters, baby wash/shampoo, nursing supplies (pads, cream, etc.), baby ear thermometers, baby picture books, infant toys, convertible car seats, umbrellas strollers, play yards and crib sheets. Cash donations are also appreciated. Do not bring bottles or formula.
The drop off site will be marked with baby shower balloons and volunteers will be there to help.
About Denver Health
Since its establishment more than 150 years ago, Denver Health (formerly known as Denver General Hospital) has evolved into a comprehensive health system regarded nationally as a successful model. One in three of our city’s residents depend on Denver Health’s system for critical resources like its acute care hospital featuring the region’s only Level 1 trauma center, school-based and community clinics, the Rocky Mountain Poison & Drug Center, the Center for Medical Response to Terrorism and more. Inarguably the state’s busiest hospital, Denver Health still manages to perform a vital balancing act: It provided more than $450 million in uncompensated care last year alone and ranks nationally in specialties like trauma, orthopedics, infectious disease, complications due to eating disorders and urology.
About Denver Health Foundation
