Today the University of Alabama's Crimson Tide and CU Boulder's Buffs squared off on CIBER Field to open the Denver Invitational. Despite setting a program record of 33 shots during regular time, the game remained at 0-0 until the freshman Brie Hooks scored with an assist from teammate Madison Krauser to end the match.
Afterwards, the No. 20 ranked Pioneers took the field to defeat the UT Martin Skyhawks 1 to 0. The game started slowly with a score of 0-0 going into second half. With 19:27 left on the clock, Senior Nicholette DiGiacomo caught the rebound off a corner kick and rocketed the ball to the top left corner of the goal to put Denver ahead. Both the Pioneers and Buffs now have 5-0 records.
The Invitational continues on Sunday with the Skyhawks and Buffs playing at 11:00 am and the Pioneers playing the Crimson Tide at 1:15 pm.
