The Denver Flea, a first-year event that is equal parts treasure hunt, high-end shopping experience, carnival and beer fest, will debut on May 24 from 2-8 p.m. in City Park. Admission to the event is free, with a special incentive: those who register before May 23 will get a free craft beer or locally-roasted cup of coffee upon entrance.
The Flea is sponsored by 5280 Magazine, and will feature more than 70 Colorado-based vendors. Wares range from vintage clothing and hand-drawn greeting cards to leather goods, custom bow ties and beyond—vendors include Winter Session; Humble Pie; Mountain Versus Plains; CLP Jewelry; Vaux Vintage; Real Dill; and Red Camper. Matthew Morris Salon and Skincare will be on-site to attend to beards, braids and brows.
“The Denver Flea is a celebration of mile-high culture,” said Blake Adams, founding partner of The Denver Flea. “It’s a nod to the craftspeople, brewers, collectors, outdoor-lovers — the creative people who make up this city.”
In paying homage to Denver culture, the Flea will keep the lifeblood of the city— craft beer — flowing. Attendees can imbibe in a selection of local beers from the likes of Denver brewers Our Mutual Friend and Wynkoop Brewery (with more to be announced at DenverFlea.com) at the Denver Flea’s four craft beer stations.
To complement the booze, a handful of Denver’s best food trucks will be parked at the perimeter of the Denver Flea. Participating food vendors include Baba’s Falafel; PeteyBird; and a new meatball concept from the founders of Hey PBJ.
In addition to shopping, attendees can stay entertained with a series of offbeat activities. The Denver Flea will offer shaving services for gentleman; stylists from Matthew Morris Salon and Skincare will run a braid bar for the ladies. Sections of the park are also reserved for lawn games and live music.
Mile High United Way is a charity partner of the Denver Flea, and ten percent of profits from the event benefit MHUW’s School Readiness, Youth Success and Adult Self-The Denver Flea is the brainchild of Imbibe Events, 5280 Magazine, Denver Off The Wagon, Lolo LLC, Mile High United Way, and a handful of other creatively-minded Denverites.
