Maybe you’re one of the lucky ones with tickets to the 2012 NCAA Women’s Final Four games at the Pepsi Center in Denver from March 30 to April 3. Or perhaps you’re just one of the thousands of fans heading to Denver for this annual event. Either way, the NCAA Women’s Final Four is much more than three championship games. It’s a city-wide playground and celebration, welcoming more than 30,000 fans into Denver for one of the most prestigious national collegiate championships.
Championship games will be held at the Pepsi Center, the crème de la crop of games which have paired of 5,000 women’s college basketball athletes representing 31 conferences from 336 NCAA Division I institutions. But if you don’t possess the golden play-off ticket, there are plenty of free events outside the basketball court for Denver locals and travelers to enjoy.
When NCAA Women’s Final Four hits the Mile High City, the competition will be tough with four number one seeds making the cut: Stanford, Notre Dame, UConn and Baylor. Denver will be overflowing with fans rooting for their favorite teams.
Open from March 30 – April 1, 2012, the family-friendly Tourney Town™ Refreshed By Coca-Cola Zero™ is the epicenter for NCAA Women’s Final Four fan activities, and many of the events are free. Located at the Colorado Convention Center, fans entering this interactive exhibit will explore more than 100,000 square feet of NCAA fun.
Events at the Colorado Convention Center include local and international entertainment acts on the Center Stage (including free concert by Jewel on Saturday), NCAA Pep Rally, AT&T Mascot Challenge, basketball clinics, autograph sessions, games and interactive displays. Other events in the city include the Mile High Dribble POWERADE® NCAA® Youth Clinics, Mile High Magic Salute Premiere, and the 5th annual 4Kay Run. Stop by the Pepsi Center for open practices and team autograph sessions, and other event like the Mile High Dribble, Battle of the Bands and the WBCA High School All-America Game. Ticketless fans can cheer for their favorite team during the April 1st games and then during the finals on April 3 at designated fan club restaurants in Downtown Denver. Designated gathering of fan restaurants are: Des Moines Regional Restaurant at Brothers Bar and Grill; Fresno Regional Restaurant at Mellow Mushroom Pizza Bakers & Bar; Kingston Regional Restaurant at Tavern Downtown; and Raleigh Regional Restaurant meet up at Wynkoop Brewing Company.
