A Denver Daisy brightens up my secret garden. Photo by Quincy Benton
Last year, to celebrate Denver’s 150th birthday, Plant Select introduced a brand new cultivar that takes the cake. Named the Denver Daisy, this plant is technically a rudbeckia hybridized by the Benary Seed Company. With golden-yellow petals and a dark brown eye outlined by a burgundy rim, the Denver Daisy calls to mind the black-eyed Susans of the high plains. In fact, according to James E. Klett, a professor at Colorado State University, DENVER DAISY™ has parentage from Rudbeckia hirta, a daisy native to Colorado when the pioneers founded Denver 150 years ago.
The plant can take Colorado's intense, sull sun or will perform in partial shade.
Denver Daisies bloom from May through early autumn, thriving with minimal water in Denver’s semi-arid growing conditions.
Created to commemorate the City of Denver’s sesquicentennial, this perennial is bound to become a favorite.
Plant Select offers the following information on Denver Daisy:

Soil Moisture: moderate to dry
