The holidays were no time to relax for the Denver Cutthroats with six games played between Dec. 22 and the new year. Over that period, the Cutthroats won half of them, and also dropped two more last weekend. Denver’s recent 3-5 skid has derailed what was a torrid 9-3 game streak.
The impact? Denver remains in the middle of the pack with 40 points on the season, which is only eight behind the league-leading Allen Americans.
Despite the team’s slump, A.J. Gale appears to still be clicking on all cylinders. During the 3-5 slump, Gale has put up 11 points (5 g, 6 a) and a +3. In the league scoring race, Gale is third with 44 points. Additionally, Brad Smyth and Troy Schwab rank #4 and #5 in the league scoring race, respectively.
Looking ahead, the Cutthroats continue an arduous road schedule, as the rest of the schedule (nine total games) through January is all outside of Colorado. The Fish won’t return to the Denver Coliseum until Feb. 1.
