Denver Cutthroats: Chouinard, Lauridsen called up to AHL

The ramifications of an NHL season are reverberating into the CHL as spots opening up in the AHL clear the way for CHL player advancement. Joel Chouinard and Markus Lauridsen were the most recent departures from Denver as they were called up to the Lake Erie Monsters according to a Cutthroats press release on Tuesday.

According to the Cutthroats, “Chouinard (shwee-NARD) becomes the seventh different player from the Cutthroats roster to be called up to the AHL this season. Lauridsen (LORE-ihd-sehn) is returning to the Monsters after being called up earlier this season from November 5-16.”

Presently, the Cutthroats are staring a month of road trips straight in the face, which presents a challenge when two starting defensemen leave the roster. With only four official defensemen on the roster (Sean Zimmerman, Phil Tesoriero, Todd Orlando and Aaron MacKenzie), we’ll see if there is further augmenting on the blue line.

In addition to the move, the Fish added DU four-year player Brandon Vossberg to the roster.
