The Denver Broncos will win Super Bowl XLVIII and defeat the Seattle Seahawks, according to a Madden NFL 25 simulation by EA Sports on Monday. The exclusive developer of NFL console video games has made it a yearly tradition to simulate the big game a week prior to build hype for not only the Super Bowl but for their game as well one last time before people start talking about the next iteration of the franchise.
In a reflection of the weather that is expected to be a dominant story over the course of the week leading up to the game, snow was a big factor in the simulation as defense ruled for much of the first half, highlighted by a Richard Sherman interception off Peyton Manning that the Seahawks cornerback then took to the house for a score and a halftime lead of 10-7. The Broncos would get pick up the pace in the second half with touchdowns from Demaryius Thomas and Knowshon Moreno and subsequently grab the lead late in the game, only to be foiled by a Russell Wilson two-point conversion that sent the game into overtime in the closing seconds. The game would then be decided by a Matt Prater field goal kick that gave the Broncos their third Super Bowl in franchise history and Manning's second championship to cap a hall of fame career.
EA Sports has had a good track record in predicting the winner for the past ten years, correctly picking eight winners including the Baltimore Ravens last year, although they did not accurately call the lights going out on the Mercedes-Benz Superdome for several minutes.
