Denver Broncos defeat New York Giants 26-6

The Denver Broncos defeated the New York Giants 26-6 on Thanksgiving night. A full game recap and box score can be found here.

Good: The Giants defense in the third quarter. The unit held the Broncos scoreless during that 15 minutes of football, allowing New York to convert on two field goal attempts. Speaking of field goals, Lawrence Tynes buried a 52 yarder in the third quarter, saving his job for yet another week.

Oh, and Mario Manningham made yet another great catch, also in the third quarter.

And that's it. There is no other “good” in this game, Giants fans.

Bad: You name it, it was bad for the Giants against the Broncos. Kyle Orton out-played Eli Manning in every sense of the word and the Broncos defense was phenomenal. Plenty of Giants fans complained to me on my Twitter page about the offensive play calling. Other than a handful of instances, I really didn't have a lot of problems with the plays being called. It was the (lack of) execution, not playing calling, that killed the Giants offense.

That and the offensive line. In all honesty, the New York Giants lacked toughness all over the football field against the Broncos. The Denver offensive line just had its way with New York's defense. Knowshon Moreno had some big runs and broke a few tackles but the fact of the matter any NFL running back is going to be able to make a play when he has a four yard start. Four yards is about how far back the defensive line was pushed by the time Moreno crossed the line of scrimmage.

When the Giants had the ball, Eli Manning and New York running backs had to deal with Broncos practically living in the backfield. To summarize, the Giants' offensive line was the complete opposite of Denver's.

Ugly:
The New York Giants officially have no running game. None whatsoever. Commentators complained about the Giants passing the ball on third and one in the fourth quarter. Whatever made them believe that Brandon Jacobs could run for a yard against the Denver defense is beyond me. The Giants defensive and offensive lines were utterly terrible.

The phrase “Running with his eyes.” Thanks to Matt Millen, I now never want to hear that again.

Overall:
This one was as bad as you could have possibly imagined it. The New York Giants must now go 4-2 to make the playoffs. After tonight, I have very little faith in that occurring.
