Denver Beer Fest Celebrates Nine Days of Everything Beer

See also

Denver brews more beer than other city, which makes it the perfect destination for the Denver Beer Fest. Nine days of beer-centric events kicks off in Denver on September 23 to October 1, 2011. From beer competitions to beer-paired dinners, Denver Beer Fest gets their beer goggles on for one of the most amazing beer celebrations in the world.

Start your Denver beer journey early at the 42nd annual Oktoberfest Denver at 20th & Larimer. Catch the Long Dog Derby, Das Hustlehoff 5k, Stein Hoisting Competition, Kids’ Karnival, and 2 stages of live music! Oktoberfest Denver is expected to attract more than 350,000 people over 2 weekends, September 16-8 and again during Denver Beer Fest, September 23-25. Maxim Magazine and USA Today have named Denver Oktoberfest as “The Best Oktoberfest in the United States," and "One of the country’s biggest and longest running traditions." Denver’s Oktoberfest tradition donates more than $80,000 to local charities.

Just like fine dining, beer has become part of Denver’s tourism brand,” says Richard Scharf, president & CEO of VISIT DENVER. “Denver brews more beer than any other city, is home to the largest single brewing site in the world – Coors Brewery – and hosts the annual Great American Beer Festival (GABF), which has been declared the largest beer tasting event in the world.”

Created to welcome the annual GABF (sold out 11 weeks early), Denver Beer Festival enters its third year with its nine days of celebrating beer! Tickets to the annual GABF have already sold out, but that won’t keep a beer connoisseur away from the brews. Enter in Denver Beer Fest, giving locals and visitors another opportunity taste what Denver offers, the city’s beer culture.

Some of the events include:
• Rare Beer Tastings
• Meet the Brewer Nights
• Firkin nights (a cask conditioned beer will be tapped and drained until it is gone)
• Tap Takeovers (a brewery takes over all the taps at a bar or restaurant)
• Beer-paired Dinners (a restaurant works with the brewery and has a different course paired with a different beer in a fixed-price dinner)
• Beer Competitions (beers are paired off against each other, often with the bar patrons voting for their favorites, until there is one winner)
• Beer Education (special programs or lectures that discuss different aspects of beer tasting or brewing)
• Pub Crawls (two or more bars work together on a pub crawl, or beer walking tour, or beer cruiser bike night)
• Brewery Tours (special theme-tours of breweries)
• Beer Games (quizzes, contests, special events)
• Music (music events that take place during Denver Beer Fest and can be tied into it)
