Less than a month away now, Rocky Mountain area geeks will be gleaming from ear to ear with excitement as the annual StarFest Convention heats things up for the summer. What better way to celebrate the “May the 4th" than a three day weekend getaway May 2-4 at the Marriott Denver Tech Center. More excitement has been announced including guests and activities for all ages. The latest big name added to the already shiny guest list is hot actor Sam Witwer who is best known as the vampire, Aiden, on the US Version of Being Human. Other guests so far confirmed are Amanda Tapping, Nichelle Nichols, Tim Russ, Billy Dee Williams, and Suzie Plakson.

StarFest is not just about the celebs, it is about the fans’ love of Sci-Fi, Horror, Anime, and Comics. Attendees spend months preparing for their kickass cosplay outfits, creative balcony decorations, and fun and informative panels, while still saving enough money to splurge in that all important dealers’ room. ComicFest, HorrorFest, DigiFest, RoboFest, GameFest, and this year there will be something extra amazing with Doctor Who Fest. Leading the fun will be local Who experts Kristin Max Polizzo, Jacob Dunn, Sarah Lathrop, and Heather Maloney who will bring the fun in with such activities as build Your Own Sonic Screwdriver, Cosplay Contest, Doctor Who Trivia, Fan-Script Write-Up, and panel discussions. Allons-y to three days of Whovian adventure with discussions of companions, villains, paradoxes, and ‘Who’s’ gone, ‘Who’ needs to come back.

Star Trek fans take note of the Klingonfest that occurs every year at StarFest. They will have a full weekend of programming starting Friday May 2 at Noon and running through Sunday. Fans will have the opportunity to summon their proud inner Klingon and take part of activities such as be given a Klingon name, participate in a scavenger hunt, learn costuming, language, and Bloodwine tasting.
