Colorado played host to the second annual Myths and Legends Convention this past weekend Aug 8-10, 2014 at the Ramada Plaza North. Firefly cosplay was in full bloom with all ages displaying amazing costumes. There were plenty of “Firefly” Jayne hats, Kaylee, Inara, Captain Reynolds outfits, “Game of Thrones “and “Harry Potter” costumes created to perfection. Of course there was a “Doctor Who” and a “Supernatural” Castiel roaming around along with a couple steampunk beauties.

For some, the highlight of the night was the “Firefly” shindig that was kicked off by the always popular band Pandora Celtica. For others, there was a "Harry Potter Wizard Ball," and a “Game of Thrones Murder Mystery.” The Kilted Man entertained throughout the weekend. Then for the gaming enthusiasts, there was plenty to do with board and RPG gaming. One such gaming area was sponsored by Rocky Mountain Games who just started their Kickstarter campaign. Room after room of activities including Astronomy 101 which actually took place in a miniature planetarium, tea dueling, and fabulous “Doctor Who” panels with Heather and Michelle of WhoGirls.net, and their sidekick Slade.

What made this event unique is that it focused on a handful of fandoms, and for "Doctor Who" and Joss Whedon fans, this convention was really something special. According to organizer Nikki Ebright, “Myths and Legends was a new convention for the fandoms that don’t really have a home in the Rocky Mountain region.” This cozy get together focused on all the sci-fi and fantasy goodness such as “Harry Potter,” “Doctor Who,” “Firefly,” “Lord of the Rings,” “My Little Pony,” and new this year, “Game of Thrones.”
