Denver area anime fans got their geek on this past weekend Feb 28 – Mar 2, 2014 at the Animeland Wasabi convention. The three day event took place at the Crowne Plaza Denver International Hotel & Convention Center where fans and celebs alike escaped from the real world and hung out with old friends while making new ones. The cosplay was spectacular as attendees summoned their inner seamstress and created costumes fit for Hollywood itself. There were well known voice actors along with rockin’ bands that created a full weekend of music and entertainment. There were plenty of activities including a fabulous dealer’s room, caricatures, and gaming around every corner. One of the highlights was the gaming that took place in a bouncy-house and bouncy boxing ring.

Animeland brought celebs such as American voice actor John William DiMaggio, voice actress Jessica DiCicco, famed voice actor Billy West, actor Liam McIntyre, Cassandra Morris, and Stargate actresses Teryl Rothery and Ona Grauer. The walls were rockin’ with live music by talented bands such as Nylon Pink, The Megas, Eyeshine, and Power Ranger Johnny Yong Bosch with his band Eyeshine. The guest of honor was none other than famed voice actor John William DiMaggio. DiMaggio is best known for his role as Bender the robot on Futurama and Dr. Drakken on Kim Possible. Flame Princess on Adventure Time’s Flame Princess actress Jessica DiCicco was a popular guest. Actor Liam McIntyre from the hit series, Spartacus had no shortage of fans at his table. Famed voice actor Billy West best known as Philip J. Fry (Futurama) and Stimpy (Ren and Stimpy) was also in attendance. Stargate: SG1 actress Teryl Rothery who is loved by fans for her role in the show as Dr. Janet Fraiser, never had a dull moment as fans were excited to get to know her in person. Cassandra Lee Morris who is known for her roles as Yubel, Leo and Luna in the Yu-Gi-Oh franchise was also there. All in all it was a memorable weekend with plenty of pictures to prove it.
