One of the best-kept secrets in North Korea was revealed after basketball superstar Dennis Rodman returned from his second trip to North Korea, according to the Huffington Post. Rodman announced that the North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and his wife, Ms Ri (Sol-Ju), have a baby daughter.
Though this is considered news, it is unlikely – at this time – that a female would become the North Korean leader one day. Female relatives of Kim Jong-un are in government, but not considered for leadership roles. Yet, the way the flow of leadership has gone in the country, a child of Kim Jong-un’s would likely become the next leader. After all, Kim Jong-un is the third generation of his family to maintain control of the nation’s government – and now that he has begun a family, the family tradition is likely to continue.
Early last year, Kim Jong-un’s wife disappeared from public view after beginning to show signs of pregnancy in photos. She reemerged in October after the baby was obviously born. But the total pregnancy and birth were kept private.
According to the report, Rodman, who considers Kim Jong-un to be a friend, has said that he held the baby. He summed up the leader’s family as being a beautiful family. Rodman has stated previously that his interactions with Kim Jong-un are totally on a friendship level with no politics involved.
