Unlikely U.S. ambassador Dennis Rodman appears to have leaked a secret from his recent visit into the impenetrable nation of North Korea.
According to a March 21 UPI release, Rodman, who visited Pyongyang last month as a guest of Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un, learned a major state secret – that Un and wife wife Ri Sol Ju have a baby daughter.
"Ri kept talking about their beautiful baby daughter," Rodman said.
Succession of leadership is of vital importance to the communist nation’s permanence, and a daughter would not be in the plans. It’s unlikely that the highly secretive Un would want such knowledge shared with the United States, whom he has called the “sworn enemy of the Korean people."
Just 15 months after he was named as the heir, youngest son Kim Jong Un was officially dubbed the “Great Successor” on December 19th, when the nation’s media finally reported his father Kim Jong-il’s death.
Had a boy been born to Un and his wife, it’s likely the birth would have been trumpeted among the North Korean people.
Rodman was mum about any other secrets he picked up while on his visit, although he was impressed with the wife of Un, whom he described as "very elegant and quite tall for a Korean."
"I won't tell you if the toilets were made of gold or anything like that, as I promised Kim I wouldn't talk about that stuff," Rodman said. "There is a lot of stuff I can't talk to you about."
There has been previous speculation, including some footage of Ri Sol Ju that appeared to show her as heavy with a child, saying the couple had a baby girl, but Pyongyang has yet to officially acknowledge this information.
When returning, the basketball star only had good things to say about dictator Kim. "I love him," Rodman said. "The guy's really awesome."
