Continuing his 30th year anniversary, Dennis Basso presented a timeless and playfully seductive 2014 spring collection. Finding inspiration in old Hollywood icons like Ava Gardner and Rita Hayworth, the collection was full of seasonless pieces.
Dennis explained “this collection is not simply a tribute to the leading ladies of the past, but an invitation for generations to come. I hope these designs will inspire the wearer to have her own personal sense of glamour and style.”
And glamorous it was! From delicate floral printed chiffon and cotton lace dresses to abstract floral double face satin ball gowns and graphic black and white patelle and geometric flare. Striking numbers included a sky blue gown, covered in almost abstract tangerine florals and a little white organza dress with bustier detailing was youthful and just sexy enough.
And of course no Dennis Basso collection is complete without fur and exotic skins. A black and white broadtail vest was belted like a peplum top over a white organza dress with black geometric shapes, and a white alligator moto jacket looked cute over a black floral frock. Colored alligator surfaced yet again in tiny vests like a cool python moto jacket with tiny lace shorts. To keep it youthful, explained Basso, “all of these jackets and vests can be paired with jeans.”
Each part of his collection epitomizes a delicate, feminine allure. His pieces always manage to remain classic while being seductive, incredibly intricate and elegant.
