Dennis Basso 30yr Anniversary Collection (Photos)

After three decades in business, Dennis Basso’s anniversary show made it abundantly clear why his career has lasted so long. The well-known furrier did not disappoint his fans, showcasing fur toppers after fur topper each one just as fresh, youthful and wearable. Models trotted out in a variety of forms, cuts and colors–chinchilla, fox, sable and mink; coats, vests, stoles and capes; brown, blue, citrine and purple.

Winning looks included long-sleeve lace sheaths; full-skirted short dresses in plaid taffetas and graceful gowns in hand-embroidered lace or tulle. Shoulder wraps came in a fox-and-velvet mix and a reversible sable vest looked chic over a silver plaid-and-tweed sheath. A slate blue chinchilla anorak and an evergreen sable coat were perfect examples of the designer’s new lighter touch.

He also marched a beautiful array of alligator jackets and furs accented with the exclusive leather. I adored his fall color palette of blues, greens and grays. Underneath his sumptuous outerwear were largely red carpet gowns (that were stunning and full of sparkle) and adorable fit-and-flare strapless cocktail dresses. Mink Ponchos and fox shrugs appeared on the runway alongside velvet pants, plaid organza gowns, and chiffon blouses.
