Luol Deng is doubtful to return to play tonight as the Bulls host the Golden State Warriors.
Deng is likely to miss his fourth straight game with a right hamstring injury he suffered Jan. 18 in a win at Boston.
“It’s alright,” Deng said. “It’s getting better. It’s a week today (since the injury) so hopefully I’m back soon. It could be longer. I just hope it’s not too long.”
Jimmy Butler will get the start.
The Warriors have been one of the bright spots of the season and currently sit in fifth place in the Western Conference at 26-15 and are coming off an impressive home victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday.
Warriors Coach Mark Jackson should be in consideration for Coach of the Year honors as he’s helped change the culture in Golden State. As a fan of the league, watching games whenever he can, he’s been ‘very impressed’ with how the Bulls have played in the absence of Derrick Rose.
“I think (Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau) is doing an excellent job,” Jackson said. “When you set a standard and you lay the foundation, the identity does not change with the characters. No Derrick Rose, but the principles remain the same. I think it says a lot about Thibs and also the Bulls in general. They’re having a great season and they should be extremely proud.”
