Demon's Souls North American Servers to Be Closed

In a sad confirmation, Atlus Games has announced that it will shut down the servers for the critically acclaimed "Demon's Souls" at the end of May 2012. The game was released in October of 2009, and has been received well by Critics and Fans alike.

What bothers me though, is the fact that this game isn't even 3 years old yet, and the servers are being shut down. What does this mean for the gaming industry? This act has been increasingly common in the industry as of late, with companies such as EA pulling the plug on multiple titles yearly (mind you that a good portion of these are Sports titles).

But I ask you, the gamer, is 2 1/2 years enough time for the multiplayer? What about the many who haven't played the game? Should they all just leave the game on the shelf, and play the sequel instead? Let me know!
