For six minutes on Tuesday, Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN) engaged in what Twitchy called a "hissy fit" while appearing on Fox News' "Hannity." His "fit" was so bad, Twitchy said, that it caused his name to trend worldwide on Twitter.
Ellison started the interview by calling Hannity "the worst excuse for a journalist" that he's ever seen after Hannity played a clip of Obama speaking with background music.
Ellison took exception to Hannity playing the clip and called it "yellow journalism" and "unethical."
The outspoken Democrat claimed Hannity is a registered Republican, but the talk show host has said many times he is a registered conservative.
In another tirade, Ellison called Hannity "immoral" for blaming the sequester on Obama.
At the end of the six-minute "interview," Hannity called Ellison a "waste of time."
"Congressman, you are a total waste of time," he said. "I'm moving on because our audience deserves better. Thank you for being with us. I tried to give you a fair shot."
Newsbusters' Noel Sheppard joined a number of people on Twitter who called Ellison's actions "deplorable."
"It seems a metaphysical certitude that Ellison's followers will love what transpired here, but let's be clear," he wrote, "he's a member of Congress, and his behavior Tuesday evening was deplorable."
Sheppard observed that Ellison is a frequent guest on NBC and MSNBC and usually gets "softball" questions.
In an email to Newsbusters, Hannity said that he was glad Americans got to see Ellison lose his cool on national television.
"It is clear Liberals like him and the President are losing it, and frankly I am happy the American people got to see it. Watching him implode was actually funny to watch. It just shows how reckless, radical, and extreme the modern day Democratic Party has become," he wrote.
"As Americans continue to see the President's policies fail, I suspect it will dawn on them Obama and the Democrats have nothing but empty rhetoric, scare tactics, false promises, and they deserve to be fired," he added.
Hannity wasn't finished, however, and offered a prediction of his own.
"I mark this night as the beginning of the end for the Obama Democrats," he wrote.
Video of the interview can be seen here.
