The Democratic Party reached out to "Breaking Bad" fans on Twitter just minutes before the series finale started on Sunday night.
Comparing the conclusion of the popular AMC series to "watching things spiral out of control" with the GOP wasn't the least bit amusing for fans.
"#BreakingBad ends tonight, but if you like watching things spiral out of control, we've still got the @GOP." - @TheDemocrats
The tweet also included a graphic that played off of the "cooking meth" theme that is associated with "Breaking Bad" series.
"The Republican Party is cooking up barrels of misinformation about Obamacare. Join the team that's setting the record strait."
Many fans simply wanted to see how the series ended and didn't want to get caught up in the tug-of-war going on between the two parties on the eve of a possible government shutdown.
"Breaking Bad" fans quickly reacted to the tweet and made it clear that they didn't want to hear about politics during the series finale of the much talked about show.
- "@TheDemocrats @GOP can't even let me watch a show w/o dragging it into their 3rd grade hair pulling contest on the merry-go-round." - @jc_step
- Grow up “@TheDemocrats: #BreakingBad ends tonight, but if you like watching things spiral out of control, we've still got the @GOP."- @sydneyduodenum
- Aww. @thedemocrats copied the Republican play off Breaking Bad. ADORBS. @RBPundit
Now that the "Breaking Bad" series finale is over, perhaps the Dems and the GOP will stop tweeting and get down to business.
The clock is ticking. If Congress fails to agree on a spending bill to keep government operations running by midnight on Monday, Sept. 30, 2013, the U.S. government will shut down and many federal programs will be affected.
