As Mark B. Evans of the Caveat Lector simply put it- "Stick a fork in Rodney Glassman, he's done". Tucson Vice Mayor and Ward 2 Tucson City Council member has postponed his run for the U.S. Senate until April. His excuse is that the city needs his help to get through its $32 million dollar budget crisis. "I will not abandon my duty for ambition, especially in a time of crisis," says Glassman, "Other politicians are leaving the people who voted for them in a lurch by resigning in the middle of the worst financial crisis in the history of Arizona, a crisis that must be dealt with at every level of our governments." What a hero!
Most conservatives and serious political observers would wish he would hit the campaign trail, since his two years as a council member have largely helped place the city into the deficit dilemma it is now in. John McCain is a four term U.S. Senator and a former presidential candidate. Glassman needed to kick off his senate campaign back in October, not launch his exploratory committee.
Democrat Jim Pederson challenged Jon Kyl in 2006. Pederson raised over $12 million dollars and was only able to get within 5 points of Kyl. Glassman's campaign committee claims that they have received thousands of $20 dollar contributions as part of his exploratory effort. If at best he has received 10,000 contributions, you are only looking at $200,000. This would mean Glassman would still need to raise over $11 million dollars within a seven month window in a year where the "Kennedy seat" was lost to a no name Republican, Scott Brown.
Glassman cannot be considered a serious political contender to unseat McCain. If McCain can get past J.D. Hayworth in the Republican primary he will be rolling like a political juggernaut into November. Sarah Palin and Mitt Romney have put their support behind him and he will be unstoppable. It would be best if Glassman just stepped aside, lose a little face, and let the professionals deal with the $14 trillion dollar mess in Washington. The rookie needs to stay at home, watch the last remaining spring training games, and work on the $32 million mess that he helped make right here in Tucson.

I actually am far more happy with him than either McCain or JD Hayworthless...(obviously, I support Jim Deakin) however, at least Glassman is trying to do the right thing...or making a dang good appearance of it!
As always GREAT article!
Anyone for Glassman has not checked into his California background, and his family of monsters. Even the Tucson Citizen has exposed him, read it here: tucsoncitizen.com/three-sonorans/2010/06/21/rodney-glassman-is-a-political-robot/ and dont be for a person you know nothing about, thats why we keep electing idiots, oh anyone must be better than him ???
