Demi Moore hospitalization substance abuse related? (Video)

Was Demi Moore's hospitalization related to substance abuse or something else? While some say her divorce to Ashton Kutcher has caused her to rely on drugs and other risky behavior, reps for the actress says she is being treated for exhaustion. But what is the truth behind her recent health scare?

On Tuesday, the "Ghost" actress was rushed to the hospital in Los Angeles for an unknown ailment. Later it was revealed that she was admitted and treated for symptoms related to exhaustion, according to the Boston Globe.

Reportedly, she had been on a partying binge. The star is a favorite in Las Vegas, so it's easy to understand why her Sin City roots were bubbling. Recall that she and ex-husband Bruce Willis married in Vegas in 1987? Then, she partied like it was 1999. And don't forget; there was her times at the Palms Casino, and her bit with "Dirty Dancing" with Snoop Dogg a few years back.

Immediately, when the news hit social media like Twitter, Facebook and other outlets, rumors begin to swirl that Demi Moore's divorce from Ashton Kutcher had pushed her over the edge. The gossip ranged from inhaling cocaine, nitrous oxide, anorexia, and severe depression as reasons for her treatment.

However, reps for Demi Moore claimed her hospitalization was not substance abuse related. Instead, she is undergoing treatment for exhaustion. Immediately, this brings to mind "30 Rock" star Tracy Morgan, who recently collapsed at a gala in Utah.

"Because of the stresses in her life right now, Demi has chosen to seek professional assistance to treat her exhaustion and improve her overall health. She looks forward to getting well and is grateful for the support of her family and friends.” ~ Statement from Moore’s reps, citing a CBS Story

"Reps for the comedian slammed rumors that he had experienced a mild heart attack. But just like Demi Moore, a claim was made that exhaustion was behind the scare. He also has diabetes. What is really going on here?

“Call it burnout, exhaustion, or an emotional collapse, but it’s really about not being able to function; a person is so completely debilitated that hospitalization is required.” ~ Statement from psychotherapist Karen Ruskin (not on Moore's treatment team).

Because a person (even a celebrity) has a right to have their medical history protected, the public may never know the true reason why more was hospitalized recently. While heart gaunt appearance hints at signs of anorexia, Demi is known to be a hard-core fitness buff.

Critics and tabloids will continue to play out the story that Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore's divorce has taken a toll on her health. While this may be true, it is not out of the ordinary to learn that a person's means of coping relies on risky behavior. Whatever led to her medical emergency underscores the reality that celebrities are humans to.

Do you think Demi Moore's hospitalization was for substance abuse? Or as her reps claim, was her recent health scare merely related to exhaustion?
