"The X Factor" U.S. judge Demi Lovato has reportedly joined the long list of celebrities who have had nude photos "leaked" without their permission. On Aug. 19, 2013, tabloid website Radar Online reported that nude photos of someone who looks exactly like Lovato were offered for sale to Radar Online, which declined to publish the pictures.
Radar Online had this description of the photos: "They show a dark-haired woman who looks identical to Lovato in a raft of compromising positions, including nude in a bath tub and lying topless in bed, among other poses. Radar has been unable to verify the breast-baring images are authentic, however the woman in the images has some tell-tale signs suggesting it is indeed the ex-Sonny with a Chance actress. She has the same tattoos as Lovato, including 12 black birds on her right forearm."
The supplier of the nude photos told Radar Online: “These are Demi. The collection I have show some nude, including face, some including parts of the body Demi is known for — tattoos, butt, chin. Then, I have pictures of her getting rowdy … I can guarantee you these photos are legitimately of Demi."
Lovato and her representatives declined to comment to Radar Online about these photos.
It's doubtful that these photos would ruin Lovato's career. She has been very candid in telling the public about her problems with substance abuse, self-harming and eating disorders. Lovato (who also went public about being bipolar) has been to rehab for all of these issues and has talked about in numerous interviews. Therefore, it's not as if she has a "squeaky-clean" image that could be tarnished, since she has already confessed to a lot of bad behavior.
It is also has not been reported when the photos of Lovato were taken. The public is more likely to be understanding if she took the photos during the phase in her life when she said she was abusing drugs and alcohol.
And if the photos really are of Lovato, she definitely will not get fired from "The X Factor" because of these photos.
Considering the sex scandals that "The X Factor" executive producer Simon Cowell has been in, he is the last person to judge if his employees have nude photos of themselves. In addition, Cowell famously showed his support for Tulisa Contostavlos and said he was not going to fire her from "The X Factor" U.K. judging panel in 2012, when a sex video that Contostavlos made with a former boyfriend a few years earlier was leaked to the public without her permission. (Contostavlos sued the ex-boyfriend, Justin Edwards, who later made a public apology for leaking the video. The lawsuit was settled out of court.)
Contostavlos was fired from "The X Factor" U.K. in 2013, but not because of her sex video. Her "X Factor" firing was reportedly because Cowell and company were unhappy with her job performance in 2012, when her highest-ranking contestant (Ella Henderson) finished in sixth place. Contostavlos also was reportedly tardy for her "X Factor" job many times and was losing popularity with the public. (Her first solo album and her memoir were huge flops in 2012.)
Lovato joined "The X Factor" U.S. in 2012. In 2013, she and Cowell are on the show's judging panel with Kelly Rowland and Paulina Rubio.
If the nude photos of Lovato ever go viral, maybe she can get advice from Vanessa Hudgens, another teen idol/former Disney Channel star who had nude photos that were leaked to the public. Hudgens' career has not been ruined by these photos. In fact, Hudgens has been able to successfully transition from being a Disney Channel star to having a busy career in movies.
