As Demi Lovato waits to hear if she will be asked back to "The X Factor" U.S. judging panel, she has a couple of new things lined up that should keep her in the public eye. First, her music video for "Pieces of a Heart" premieres on MTV on February 13, 2013. Second, she is scheduled to perform March 6, 2013, at Universal Studios Orlando in Florida as part of a Mardi Gras concert series at the amusement park.
"Pieces of a Heart" is expected to be on Lovato's fourth studio album that should be out sometime in 2013. The album's title, songs and release date are to be announced. The release date for when "Pieces of a Heart" goes on sale is also to be announced.
On December 24, 2012, Lovato posted a YouTube video performing a cover version of Alabama's "Angels Among Us" in tribute to the shooting victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre, a tragedy that happened in Newtown, Connecticut, on December 14, 2012. Some media outlets incorrectly reported that "Angels Among Us" was an original song from Lovato.
As previously reported, Lovato announced on January 3, 2013, that she is taking a break from Twitter because she's annoyed with gossip websites.
Lovato usually likes to promote her new music and any of her concerts on Twitter, so it remains to be seen if she will be back on Twitter to promote "Pieces of a Heart" and/or her Universal Studios Orlando concert.
According to a Universal Studios Orlando press release, Lovato will perform at the park's Music Plaza. Admission to the concert is included with the price of admission to Universal Studios Orlando. For more information, go to http://www.universalorlando.com/mardigras.
It is unknown at this point if Lovato will be attending the 2013 People's Choice Awards in Los Angeles on January 9. Lovato is nominated for three prizes at the show: Favorite Celebrity Judge, Favorite Pop Artist and Favorite Music Fan Following.
It's common knowledge among industry insiders that the People's Choice Award winners are told in advance that they won so that they will be at the ceremony. That's why almost all of the nominees who lose don't bother to show up, unless they are performers or presenters on the show. On January 4, 2013, the People's Choice Awards announced an updated list of several celebrities who are confirmed to attend the show this year, but Lovato was not on the list of announced celebrities.
In 2012, Lovato won the People's Choice Award for Favorite Pop Artist, and she performed her hit "Give Your Heart a Break" on the show.
Lovato and Britney Spears became judges on "The X Factor" U.S. in May 2012, as replacements for fired judges Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul. There are rumors that Lovato and Spears will be fired too. "The X Factor" U.S. co-host Khloe Kardashian is also expected to be axed. It should be announced by late January 2013 or early February 2013 who is getting fired from the show.
Representatives for "The X Factor" U.S. are not commenting on any possible changes that the show will have in 2013.
As of now, "The X Factor" Simon Cowell is the only judge who is guaranteed to remain on the show. Antonio "L.A." Reid quit in December 2012, and his replacement should be named by May 2013. Any other new judge(s) on the show should also be announced by that month. Reid left "The X Factor" because he said he wanted to spend more time on his main job as chairman/CEO of Epic Records.
February 12, 2013 update: "Heart Attack," not "Pieces of a Heart," is the first single from Lovato's fourth album. "Heart Attack" will be released on March 4, 2013.
