Demi Lovato, One Direction, Britney Spears win at 2014 People's Choice Awards

Demi Lovato, One Direction and Britney Spears were among the winners at the 40th Annual People's Choice Awards, which took place place on Jan. 8, 2014, at the Nokia Theater L.A. Live in Los Angeles. CBS had the U.S. telecast of the show.

One Direction came in third place on "The X Factor" U.K. in 2010. Lovato was a judge on "The X Factor" U.S. in 2012 and 2013. Spears was a judge on "The X Factor" U.S. in 2012.

As previously reported, Lovato was nominated for four prizes at the 2014 People's Choice Awards: Favorite Female Artist, Favorite Pop Artist, Favorite Music Video (for "Heart Attack") and Favorite Music Fan Following. She won the awards for Favorite Female Artist and Favorite Music Fan Following. Lovato did not attend the awards show.

One Direction was up for three prizes at the show: Favorite Band, Favorite Music Video (for "Best Song Ever") and Favorite Music Fan Following. One Direction won the award for Favorite Band and did not attend the ceremony.

Spears, who was at the show, was also nominated in the categories of Favorite Female Artist, Favorite Pop Artist and Favorite Music Fan Following. She won the award for Favorite Pop Artist. She thanked her family, management team and fans in her acceptance speech.

"The X Factor" U.S. was nominated for Favorite Competition TV Show at the 2014 People's Choice Awards but lost to "The Voice" U.S.

"The X Factor" U.S., One Direction and Lovato were winners at the 2013 People's Choice Awards (PCAs): Lovato won the prize for Favorite Celebrity Judge at the 2013 People's Choice Awards, but that category has now been eliminated. One Direction's "What Makes You Beautiful" was named Favorite Song, while One Direction's first album, "Up All Night," won for Favorite Album. "The X Factor" U.S. won the prize for Favorite Competition TV Show in 2013. Lovato and One Direction did not go to that ceremony either.
