Demi Lovato has been very open about her struggles with drugs and alcohol and her struggles have been received with mixed messages. However, it sounds like people had no idea how badly she was struggling, but now she is revealing just how bad her addiction was. According to a new Radar Online report published on Dec. 10, Demi Lovato is now speaking out about her addiction, revealing that she would smuggle drugs onto planes so she could feed her habit.
She reveals that she hit rock bottom at the young age of 19 after she checked into rehab in Illinois for “emotional and physical issues.” And while she didn’t go into detail about what her past looked like back in 2010, she is ready to speak about it now.
“Something I’ve never talked about before, but with my drug use I could hide it to where I would sneak drugs. I couldn’t go without 30 minutes to an hour without cocaine and I would bring it on airplanes,” Lovato has revealed, adding that she would smuggle drugs to feed her habit. “I would smuggle it basically and just wait until everyone in first class would go to sleep and I would do it right there. I’d sneak to the bathroom and I’d do it. That’s how difficult it got and that was even with somebody [with me], I had a sober companion, somebody who was watching me 24/7 and living with me [and] I was able to hide it from them as well.”
And she could get away with doing these things, because she was good at tricking and manipulating people. “I’m very, very good at manipulating people and that was something that I did in my disease, I would manipulate everyone around me,” she said. “There were times I would just continue to lie, so that everything looked OK on the outside.” Are you surprised that she used to smuggle drugs onto planes, risking years in jail for drug smuggling and possession?
