Demarcus Cousins labels Rajon Rondo as the best point guard in NBA

Boston Celtics All-Star point guard Rajon Rondo has a fan in Sacramento Kings young center Demarcus Cousins. While other players and even most experts wouldn’t put Rondo in the same category as Chris Paul, Derrick Rose and Russell Westbrook as far as complete talent goes, Cousins told Grantland’s Bill Simmons in an interview this week that Rondo is who he considers the best.

Rondo is certainly considered one of the best point guards in the game. The four-time NBA All-Star has led the league in assists with his flashy passing and his ability to create easy shots for his teammates. In that respect there are not many who could argue with Cousins, but when it comes to Rondo’s ability to consistently sink shots, many experts would shy away as far as considering the Celtics captain as one of the very best.

In the interview, Cousins discussed the current state of his team as well as the criticism he takes regarding his lack of control when it comes to his emotions on the court. The Kings center has the talent to be a very good player in this league, if he sets his mind to it. His fieriness is something that does compare with Rondo. Both players are very competitive and one would think they would clash if they ever played together. When Simmons raised the question about whether the two could play together and if they would indeed clash, Cousins answered, “I don’t understand why people think (that). What is it? Just, you think the personalities won’t match, or what?”

It sounds as though Cousins think there could be a possibility the two for Kentucky alums may end up playing together. Cousins has been apart of many rumors concerning a possible deal to the Celtics, and the Kings have made it known that they are interested in Rondo. Of course if there is a trade, Cousins would be a player the Celtics would probably require in the deal. The Kings could make a run at signing Rondo if he enters free agency next summer.
