We know tennis star, Serena Williams can do some talking with her tennis racquet on a tennis court, but it turns out she can also sing some tunes as she gets ready for this year's U.S. Open in New York.

On Wednesday, August 20th at Arena in New York City, world No. 1, Serena Williams joined with Delta Air Lines for the first ever Delta Open Mic with some of her celebrity friends.

Word is, she was pretty good.

Who knew?

It turns out, Serena is a big fan of karaoke.

And she has her favorite genres.

“I do like 80s, 90s rock because it’s good for my voice,” Williams said before going on stage. “The thing about karaoke is picking a song that works for your voice."

But unlike being on the tennis court, Serena said she was out of her comfort zone.

"I'm really nervous," added Williams.

Those there to support Serena and her endeavor were Orange Is The New Black’s Uzo Aduba and Laverne Cox, her comedian friend Kathy Griffin, 30 Rock actress Katrina Bowden, Glee’s Darren Criss, personal trainer Shaun T and ATP World Tour player, Jack Sock.

They were all there to hear and sing their favorite tunes to get ready for for last major tennis tournament of the year, starting on Monday.

Williams, a karaoke enthusiast, kicked off the night by channeling her inner Marilyn with “Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend,” followed by Laverne Cox’s memorable rendition of “One Moment in Time.” The two were met with a resounding round of applause by fellow karaoke buffs and Delta guests.

On the court or off, Serena Williams is full of surprises and always in her comfort zone. A big fortnight of tennis lies ahead for the superstar as she tries to win another major title.
