On April 16, 2013, the Delray Beach City Commission will be deciding between two offers to purchase the space Arts Garage currently occupy. One offer proposes to use this location as office space and another will guarantee Arts Garage stay for the next ten years with an option to buy. Please ask the Delray Beach Commissioners to choose the offer that will make Arts Garage current location their permanent home.

“Arts Garage has become synonymous with incredible entertainment,” said Alyona Ushe, Executive Director. “And this month we really bring it!” “Musical diversity abounds as the month kicks off with Drag Bingo… you just have to experience it,” said Ushe. Another key highlight of the month is Arts Garage’s very own Drew Tucker. The master of percussion sold out the house last time and wowed audiences with his diverse style and range of rhythms. His performance is followed by the classical jazz and folk infused sounds of Errol Racckipov, and the Latin jazz sounds of the sultry Brazilian born Rose Max.
Next, Arts Garage rocks out with the bluesy Lauren Mitchell Band and gets funky with the Betty Fox Band. “We end the month with man critics call the new Louie Armstrong---Bruce Stripling,” said Ushe. “He is in demand by orchestras all over the country, and we are honored to have him at Arts Garage. And... This month, Tyrrell introduces audiences a new play by Duncan MacMillan, called "Lungs".

"VOP" puts its inimitable trademarks of glitz, gam and glitter on its annual fundraiser in the sexy setting of the fabulous Arts Garage and, for the first time, "Voices of Pride" will be performing throughout the evening. Whadda deal!

Errol Rackipov is a composer, jazz musician and educator. His music is a blend of jazz and classical chamber music with Eastern European folk rhythms and motifs. As a jazz vibraphonist, marimbist and composer, he has been working as a professional musician, composer and producer in various styles of music from jazz to R&B and has participated in numerous projects throughout the world. $20-$30 in advance, $5 more at the door

Sultry Brazilian vocalist Rose Max tours worldwide with Brazilian acoustic guitar master Ramatis, bringing her sweetly haunting voice to every performance. Rose Max has music in her blood. She is the great-granddaughter of the conductor and composer Cupertino de Menezes and granddaughter of the guitar player and composer Manuel de Menezes. Gifted with a beautiful voice early on, Rose got her start singing in the nightclub-heavy Rio de Janeiro, where she mastered the styles of bossa nova, samba, and Latin jazz. After moving to the United States in 1993, Rose continued performing and touring. The Lauren Mitchell Band, featuring front-woman Mitchell’s galvanizing vocals backed by the talents of veteran rock and blues artists, has roared on to the South Florida arts scene with undeniable ferocity. The group was born in 2005 when Lauren Mitchell teamed up with keyboard sensation Mike Hensley to create a sound that celebrated everything they loved about blues, soul, and rock. Since then, the band has incorporated the best talent it can find, to bring audiences a sound that is fresh and exciting.

Byron Stripling was born to a musical family in Atlanta, and by the time he was 10, he was wailing on the trumpet. After studying music in college, he traveled the world playing with pop orchestra symphonies and jazz greats. In 1989, he was chosen to play with the Boston Pops Orchestra, and went on to appear with over fifty orchestras nationwide. He is currently the artistic director and conductor of the Columbus Jazz Orchestra, and his style and skill are often compared to a modern Louis Armstrong. He is an extroverted performer, who engages audiences and incorporates them into his music. He exudes joy through his instrument and his vocals as he continues to forge new ground in the world of jazz. Tickets are $25-35, $5 more at the door
