Littleton, New Hampshire is so cute! They call themselves "The Glad Town" and the town symbolic sculptures are actually pianos with covers that you can lift and play . . . create your own glad sound. If you're staying at the historic Thayer's Inn -- like Presidents and movie stars have -- you'll be happy to know that they've reopened their restaurant after being closed for years. Grille One Eleven has both casual fare and hearty dinners, with a nod toward local flavors. Dress is casual, ambiance is cozy in the hotel's cellar area. Guests of the hotel get 10% off their very reasonable prices.

Service was very attentive -- and they had no idea I am a food writer.

I was pleased with both of the dinner specials, each having generous portions. I'm glad I didn't order appetizers; I wouldn't have been able to finish my dinner!

A huge stuffed lobster tail -- $16 and change with my hotel discount -- had herby stuffing, lots of baby scallops and shrimp. It was served with an ear of fresh corn. It was rich without being goopy. The sweet lobster still stood out.

A Delmonico steak was grilled perfectly and topped with loads of bacon, caramelized onions and Gorgonzola cheese. Grilled fresh asparagus and Spanish rice accompanied the steak. This is a very flavorful dish!

Carrot cake for dessert was rich with golden raisins and whipped cream cheese icing.
