Stephen Chbosky's The Perks Of Being A Wallflower book-to-screen adaptation hits DVD and Blu-ray on Tuesday, Feb. 12, and today a first-look at the deleted scenes included in the special features has been unveiled at MTV Hollywood Crush.
Fans of Chbosky's touching novel will recognize the emotional scene as the one in which Charlie (Logan Lerman) takes his sister Candice (Nina Dobrev) to an abortion clinic.
The scene was originally cut from the theatrical version of the film for the sake of keeping the movie rated PG-13.
As Nina Dobrev explained to Teen Magazine, "We actually shot that, yeah. We shot the clinic scenes and a few scenes post clinic, but unfortunately the movie was rated R and it got a little too heavy so we had to take them out so the viewers who the movie is intended for could watch it."
Chbosky previously revealed to Collider.com that the DVD and Blu-ray special features for Perks should include around fifteen minutes of deleted scenes in all.
"There are a couple because as a novelist I did not realize just how literal movies could be, that there wasn't room for a flashback with Charlie and his best friend Michael, and there wasn't room for a sub-plot with Charlie's sister. I shot them. Individually, beautiful. Nina did amazing work in that sequence, but at the end of the day, I had to tell this story," he explained.
